Growing up with a good family is a nice blessing, mostly
if they taught you a lot of values like humbleness, determination and staying
together through any problem. Sometimes we don´t value our family and we are indifferent
for them, only if you live a difficult situations and we feel lost that person can
change the way we see our world.
It was a good night on July 27th 2013, my cousins
decided to have a reunion in my aunt's house, so they came with snacks and
food. I was very tired because I went out all day so I went to bed early. One
of my cousins had a little bicycle, he was 8 years old, and he had been
visiting from America so my uncle brought a bicycle because there he can't ride
with liberty. Well, the reunion was only for adults and it was very funny doing
this type of things. One of my cousin said: "Let's ride a bike" and
he got the bicycle and rode it, when my cousin finished my sister wanted do the
same and she got a bike, but when she came back she laughed and said:
"Help! Help! I'm bleeding! My face! My face! My cousins were very surprised
and one of them drove to the hospital so fast. I didn't know about it, I knew
when one of my cousins woke me up and told me:" Karol, your sister had an
accident, she fell off the bike". And then I said: "What? How did it
happen? She didn't know how it happened, she only told me what my sister said
and nobody saw the accident. I waited all night for her, and when she arrived at
the house she looked very hurt and her jaw broken but we didn't know how grave
it was. When she saw me, she said: “I’m Ok. Don't worry, I going to sleep with
you". On the next day I got up and when I saw her I cried because I felt so
bad for her, I was very surprised to look at her so hurt.
That afternoon she went to hospital again, and the
doctor said how grave it was. They told her that she needed a surgery because
she had her jaw broken too. She had to wait so much time for her surgery
because they did a lot of procedures for her jaw and she had been immobile. The
doctors did the surgery and it was good, they didn't have problems. Her recovery
was so slow. I remember when I entered in her bedroom I said a joke and she
always told me “Get out of my room,” because she couldn't laugh. It´s was so
funny, we laughed together. It was a way to confront the situation and try to
feel good.
My family
learned about that situation. We will always be a big family but that it´s no
problem to stay in union. After the accident I have a good relationship with my
sister, we talk with calm, sometimes discuss about anything but it´s normal. I
understand that we have to demonstrate to our family how important they are for
us, for me it´s too difficult, but if you are grateful with them, if you call them
and ask how they are; there are simple ways to demonstrate love.
